YOU CAN MAKE a double date with the Library on Thursday, March 7, when a second meeting of the newly-launched Tenerife History Group is followed in double quick order by the annual Library Volunteers Lunch.
The first meeting of the History Group a month ago was so well attended that in future meetings will be held on a fortnightly basis. The venture is the brainchild of the Library’s new president, Ken Fisher, who has had a lifelong interest in history in general and in the British community in Tenerife in particular.
The British connection with Tenerife dates as far back as the 15th century, which the History Group will explore and follow as the relationship developed down the years, leading to visits by the likes of Sir Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher in more recent times.
The second History Group runs from 11am-12.30pm. You can call Ken Fisher on 639 310 682 for further information about the group and how he plans to help you discover the fascinating history of this beautiful island.
The Volunteers Lunch is the Library’s way of thanking the many volunteers who give freely of their time to keep the library running and maintain our beautiful gardens.
ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR events of the year is the Annual Pig Roast, which this year takes place on Saturday March 16, starting at 2pm
This year, in addition to the succulent roast pork, Canarian potatoes and various salad accompaniments, there will be entertainment and plenty of liquid refreshment to oil your vocal chords if you wish to join in with the singing.
But to secure your place at this not-to-be-missed occasion you must book early at the Treasurer’s Desk to avoid disappointment. Admission is priced at €17 per head.
THE LIBRARY always welcomes visitors to join us during opening hours to enjoy the gardens and general amenities. Refreshments are served in the garden on Wednesday and Saturday mornings
