A massive thanks to all the library members and their friends who attended the two Sunday lunches held recently at The New Robin Hood, Puerto de la Cruz, in aid of the local volunteer firefighters based at Los Realejos. In conjunction with All Saints’ Church, we raised a massive €1185 which will be presented to the fire fighters (date TBA). The diners included a number of the officials who were coordinating the control of the fires and the evacuation of people and livestock from the affected areas. We were also honoured to welcome one of the actual firefighters who had been active at the frontline of the fire itself. As always patron Phil gave us a warm welcome, together with a beautiful carvery roast dinner. A good time was had by all!

We gratefully commend the dedication and bravery of all the men and women who volunteer and risk their lives to keep the rest of us safe.
