MEET the Wednesday group – our volunteers who keep the library going every Wednesday.

They are part of an overall 40-strong team of volunteers who staff the library variously four days a week, undertaking a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth running of the operation.

The jobs they carry out range from:

• • Gardeners to look after the gardens…
• • To maintenance men who look after the fabric of the building…
• • To the desk clerks who stamp the books and DVDs in and out…
• • To the helpers who place the returned books and DVDs back in their rightful place on the shelves…
• • To the ladies who make the teas and coffees for members to enjoy while sitting outside in the garden…
• • To the secretary, treasurer and back office staff who carry out various administration duties, such as ordering new books and DVDs, collecting membership fees and taking bookings for our various events

These are tasks that hundreds of library volunteers past and present have been performing for well over a hundred years. Long may they continue.
