OUR NEXT Film Club showing is on Thursday, September 27 and features a delightful British film, The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society.
Based on the best-selling and much-loved novel by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows, the film tells how Julies Ashton, a London-based writer, in 1946 began exchanging letters with residents on the island of Guernsey, which had been occupied by the Germans during World War Two.
The strangely-named society had begun as a cover for residents breaking curfew. Feeling compelled to visit the island, Ashton, played by Lily James, gradually begins to get a picture of what life was like during the occupation.
The film show starts at 2pm and, as always, admission is strictly for Library members only. There is no admission fee and refreshments, including ice cream, will be on sale during the intermission.
