IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR again – the school holidays. For those of you lucky enough to have family with grandchildren staying with you don’t forget the library has a good selection of children’s books for all ages, from toddlers right up to 12-year-olds and older.
There’s also a good selection of DVDs for those times when they get bored. You never know, granny and grandad might enjoy Happy Feet and Paddington or one of the many other children’s DVDs in our collection.
Keep a lookout for our next two book reviews, which will feature titles from the Richard and Judy Summer Selection, doubtless providing us with their usual selection of good and interesting reading.
Don’t forget our annual quiz coming up on Tuesday August 22, with a 1.30pm for 2pm start, when the challenge will be on to beat the Fishermen’s Friends, last year’s winning team.
Our annual summer quiz usually proves popular. The questions will again be set by Ken Sheldon, accompanied by Maggie struggling with the pronunciation as usual. The bar opens at 1.30pm and again during the interval, when tapas will be served. At €6 per head it’s a bargain for an afternoon’s entertainment.
Visitors are always welcome to join us during Library opening hours, Monday and Friday 3pm-5.30pm and Wednesday and Saturday 10pm-1pm. Refreshments are served in the garden on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
