A world tour with fear, secrets and romance

20th December 2017 by Graham Taylor

THE LAST CROP OF 2017 books added to the Library shelves take us on a world tour, from tales of fear in Boston, USA, to secrets in Rome, and romance in Crete.

We will have another selection of new books and DVDs for your enjoyment during the winter months to add to the shelves early in the New Year.

We have also received a number of generous donations recently, for which we extend our grateful thanks.

Her Every Fear

by Peter Swanson

SCARRED BY A BRUTAL ATTACK, Kate Priddy never does anything bold. Until in an attempt to take control of her life, she accepts an apartment swap offer from her cousin Corbin Dell, and moves from London to Boston.

But soon after arriving, Kate makes a terrifying discovery: Corbin’s next-door neighbour, Audrey Marshall, may have been murdered. Far from home and emotionally unstable, her imagination is playing out her every fear. Who can Kate trust?

The Rome Affair

by Karen Swan

ELENA DAMIANI LIVES A GILDED LIFE in 1974. Born with extreme wealth and beauty, no door is closed to her, no man can resist her. At 26 she is already on to her third husband when she meets her love match but he is the one man she can never have, and all the riches in the world can’t change it.

Move on to 2017 and Francesca Hackett is living la dolce vita in Rome, leading tourists around the Eternal City and forgetting the ghosts she left behind in London. By chance the two women meet and begin to work together on the Viscontessa’s memoirs.

As summer unfurls, Elena tells her sensational stories, leaving Francesca in her thrall. But when a priceless diamond ring is found in an ancient tunnel Francesca begins to suspect a shocking secret about her new friend’s life.

The Honey Farm On The Hill

by Jo Thomas

ONE MAGICAL SUMMER Nell fell in love in the Mountains of Crete and her life changed for ever. Eighteen years later, Nell is ready for a new beginning.

When she sees a honey farm on the same hilltop town has lost its bees, the opportunity is impossible to resist. Welcomed back to Greece by the warm sun and aroma of wild thyme, Nell finds memories of her past at every turn.

But much has changed since she's been away. As Nell throws herself into restoring the honey farm, she starts to unlock the truth of what happened all those years ago. She soon learns that the course of true love – just like Cretan honey – can be wild and sweet. And well worth the wait…

Unforgotten Series Two

DS314D

CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED ITV Drama series, Unforgotten starring Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar. The story begins with the discovery of a body; this time the perfectly-preserved remains of a middle-aged man found in a sealed suitcase in the silt of the River Lea in North East London.

As Cassie and Sunny begin the complicated task of trying to identify the victim, we will meet four unconnected people who we suspect are linked in some way to the victim.
